1. Call for Papers: The Use of Human Rights Language in International and EU Law. The Faculty of Law of the University of Trento is soliciting abstracts to participate in the XXI Conference of Young Scholars of International Legal Studies. 2. International Conference: Improving Supply Chain Accountability for Arms Exports. This conference, to be held at the Asser Institute in The Hague on 13 – 14 May, will broach due diligence and accountability mechanisms to address unlawful weapons sales. Speakers will include policymakers, experts, and civil society representatives working on the arms trade. The event will feature one high-level roundtable and three panel sessions. The roundtable will comprise policymakers from the US, the EU, and Guatemala. Panel one will discuss how to improve arms tracing from manufacture to crime scene. Panel two will broach human rights due diligence in the arms industry. Panel three will focus on access to remedies for victims of negligent arms exports. The conference is organized by the Asser Institute for International and European Law, Global Rights Compliance and the Center for Advanced Defence Studies. In-person participation only. 3. Call for Papers: Law and Disinformation Workshop. Disinformation, while not a new phenomenon, has become widespread with the rise of internet and social media, as well as the involvement of state actors in organised and systematic disinformation campaigns. As modern society continues to grapple with disinformation and its consequences, the Faculty of Law at UiT in cooperation with the FAKENEWS Project is organising a workshop to discuss the role of law as a response to disinformation. The workshop will take place on 24 October 2024 in Tromsø, Norway. The organisers invite submissions exploring legal perspectives on disinformation. The submissions may relate to any area of law, be it domestic or international. Sociolegal, critical, political, and other interdisciplinary approaches to exploring the role of law in dealing with disinformation are also welcome. Scholars interested in participating in the workshop should submit an abstract (up to 500 words), short bio (up to 150 words), and CV to gaiane.nuridzhanian {at} uit(.)no by 15 June 2024.
